College Scholarship Program
Through the generous bequeath of Alice V. Johnson, a former parishioner, Grace Church is pleased to help administer the Johnson Scholarship Program. Each spring, applications are received from young people who belong to Grace, or other parishes in the vicinity, seeking financial assistance with post-secondary-school education. To be eligible for consideration, applicants must be active members of an Episcopal Church and must have demonstrated commitment to Christian ideals, academic achievement, and service to the community.
The scholarships are intended for full- and part-time undergraduate college or vocational school students. Awards have ranged from hundreds of dollars to thousands of dollars.
Young members (under 30 years of age) of this parish receive special consideration, according to Mrs. Johnson's will. Members of parishes in the Mystic Valley Deanery are eligible to apply. These include:
- St Luke's Episcopal Church, Chelsea
- Grace Episcopal Church, Everett
- St Paul's Episcopal Church, Lynnfield
- St Paul's Episcopal Church, Malden
- Grace Episcopal Church, Medford
- Trinity Episcopal Church, Melrose
- Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, Reading
- All Saints Episcopal Church, Stoneham
- Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Wakefield
- St. Elizabeth's Episcopal Church, Wilmington
- Church of the Epiphany, Winchester
- Trinity Episcopal Church, Woburn
Applications for the 2010 scholarships will be accepted until May 1, 2010.
