Adult Christian Education"The Disciples" meet for study and prayer from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, in the Vestry Room (entrance at 11 Liberty Street). In May, the Disciples begin to read Lost Boy No More: A True Story of Survival and Salvation, by Abraham Nhial, one of the "Lost Boys of Sudan." Additional study groups and retreats are organized during Advent and Lent. Restorative JusticeIn partnership with the Everett Police, Grace Church has initiated a program of "restorative justice," which addresses property crimes in the city in a new way. Special attention is given to the needs of the victims of such crimes, while holding the offenders accountable for setting things right again. Volunteers from Grace and other area citizens work with victims and offenders to achieve a mutually satisfactory outcome that avoids arrest of the offender. Training for volunteers are given throughout the year. Ministry with SudaneseMany of Everett's Sudanese immigrants have made Grace their church-home. They have led parish seminars about the culture and politics of Sudan. Grace is a member of American Friends of the Episcopal Church of Sudan. During the run-up to the January 2011 referendum to divide the country into Sudan and Southern Sudan, Grace hosted an interfaith Prayer Vigil for peace and justice during and after the voting period. In May 2011, Grace was honored by a preaching visit from the Rt. Rev. Abraham Yel Nhial, Bishop of the Diocese of Aweil, Episcopal Church of Sudan. Haitian OutreachThrough the Sisters of St. Margaret, with chapter houses in Boston and Port-au-Prince, Grace parishioners make on-going donations for relief and reconstruction after the 2010 earthquake. Outreach to the 17,000 Haitians of Everett, the "Neighborhood Is Family" Lunch Club, facilitated by the sisters, began in February and runs through July (see Calendar & Events). Other Ways to Seek & Serve Christ in EverettParishioners regularly volunteer at the Everett Food Pantry, open two days per month. During the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, Grace works with City Hall to help families in need to enjoy the traditional feasts in their home and to have Christmas gifts for everyone.
